The City of Tampa's Department of Solid Waste has announced revisions to its waste collection services due to increased levels of waste following Hurricane Milton. Residents may face delays in garbage collection on Monday, October 14, 2024, with crews working until as late as 8 p.m.
Recycling collection will be temporarily suspended on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The department advises residents to hold onto recyclable materials until collections resume. Customers within the boundaries from Columbus Dr to Country Club Dr and from I-275 to Westshore Blvd may experience delays or missed recycling pickups on Monday.
Storm debris collection is ongoing, and residents are encouraged to follow specific guidelines for disposal. Commercial customers will continue to receive normal service, while residential garbage and recycling services are suspended on Tuesday.
The McKay Bay Transfer Station and Scale House at 114 S. 34th St. remain open for public use. For more information about disposal options, residents can visit tampa.gov/solidwaste.
SWEEP and yard waste collections are suspended until further notice. To aid in the efficient collection of hurricane debris, residents should place damaged household items separately from vegetative storm debris at the curbside and away from obstructions like parked vehicles.
Residents can download the Tampa Trash and Recycling app for real-time updates on service schedules or contact the City of Tampa Utilities Call Center at (813) 274-8811 for inquiries. New Tampa residents should reach out to Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management at (813) 272-5680 for storm debris collection schedules in their area.
