Self-service sandbag sites will be available on Sunday, October 6, from 7 AM to 7 PM at two Parks & Recreation facilities in Tampa. This comes as the National Weather Service forecasts heavy rainfall starting Sunday, which may affect operations at these sites.

Residents can visit the Himes Ave Complex or Al Barnes Park to fill up to 10 sandbags per household. The City of Tampa will also offer free tarps at these locations while supplies last. It is advised that sandbags are used with a plastic liner behind and beneath them for better flood prevention.

As rain begins today, drivers are advised against driving through floodwater and should report flooded streets or debris to the Tampa Police Non-Emergency Line at (813) 231-6130. This helps the Tampa Police and City Mobility departments secure affected areas. Real-time flooding updates are available at tampa.gov/floodmap.

For ongoing storm-related information and resources, residents can sign up for free text alerts by texting TAMPAREADY to 888-777 or TAMPALISTA to 888777 for Spanish alerts.
