The City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department has announced the closure of all facilities and suspension of programming starting Monday, October 7, in anticipation of Tropical Storm Milton. This decision is part of the city's efforts to focus on essential storm preparation activities.

In collaboration with other city departments, Parks and Recreation staff are prioritizing the removal of debris left by Hurricane Helene. This initiative aims to keep major roadways, residential streets, and public areas clear and safe as the city prepares for another storm.

Beyond debris removal, preparations include securing park equipment and protecting structures vulnerable to damage from high winds and heavy rain. Limited staff will be available to assist residents at two self-service sandbag sites open until 7 PM on Sunday at Al Barnes Park (2902 N 32nd St.) and Himes Avenue Sports Complex (4501 S Himes Ave.).

Normal operations for city parks and programming will resume once it is deemed safe following the storm.
