In response to the impact of Hurricane Helene, Tampa is providing Uber ride vouchers for residents to access resources at Comfort Stations. The Tampa Emergency Transportation Service offers up to $25 off two round-trip Uber rides to these stations for those affected by storm-related vehicle flooding.
“We know that many in our community are facing overwhelming hardships right now, and we are here to help in any way we can,” stated Mayor Jane Castor. “By providing transportation to our Comfort Stations, we hope to give families a small sense of relief as they focus on recovering from Hurricane Helene.”
Comfort Stations offer services like mobile laundry, showers, electronic charging stations, food, water, and assistance with permits for repairs. Locations include Gandy Civic Association on West Oklahoma Avenue (Monday-Friday), Marjorie Park Marina on Columbia Drive (Monday-Sunday), and DeSoto Park on Corrine Street (Monday-Sunday).
The service is available until October 25, 2024. Residents can visit Tampa.gov/recoveryrides for voucher instructions through the Uber app. Vouchers cover four Uber rides (two round trips) with each ride capped at $25.
