The City of Tampa is set to expand its hurricane relief efforts by opening a third comfort station for residents impacted by Hurricane Helene. Starting Thursday, October 3, the new facility will be operational at the Gandy Civic Association, located at 4207 W Oklahoma Ave. The station will offer essential services from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, until October 17.
At this location, residents can access pop-up permitting services and receive free supplies such as food, water, tarps, and hygiene kits. However, it should be noted that showers and on-site laundry facilities will not be available.
In addition to this new station, the city is providing free laundry services in northern Tampa on Thursday, October 3. From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., residents can utilize machines at Laundromart of Tampa at no cost but are required to bring their own detergent and bleach.
Tampa continues to operate two other comfort stations located at Desoto Park (2617 Corrine St) and Marjorie Park (97 Columbia Dr). These sites are open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., offering food, water, ice, showers, restrooms, charging stations for electronic devices, laundry assistance, and pop-up permitting centers. Permitting services aimed at speeding up storm-related repairs will also be available over the weekend of October 5-6 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
