In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Tampa is beginning the recovery process. Eleven Tampa Police officers and their families were displaced from their homes due to the storm.

Rise Tampa, Our Police Foundation, is providing support to these officers. Thanks to a donation from a local community member, each officer will receive financial assistance to help rebuild their lives.

“Our first responders showed the true hearts of public servants as they put their own concerns aside to keep others safe,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “Hurricane Helene caused devastating losses throughout our community, and we are thankful for the support.”

As residents continue the recovery process, appreciation for first responders and essential staff remains high.

The Tampa Police Department advises individuals conducting damage assessments to watch out for unlicensed contractors who may try to take advantage after a storm.
