The City of Tampa Solid Waste Department will start collecting storm debris on Monday, September 30, 2024. This collection is in response to the damage caused by Hurricane Helene and will include vegetative debris, household items, and construction debris. Residents ready for immediate collection can request it by calling the City of Tampa Solid Waste Call Center at 813-274-8811.

For those needing more time to assess and remove debris, the official collection will begin on Monday, October 7, 2024. From this date, call-in requests will not be necessary as crews will canvass each neighborhood within Tampa city limits to collect storm-related debris from the curb.

Residents are asked to follow specific guidelines to ensure a smooth collection process:

- Collection: Crews will collect damaged household items, construction debris, and vegetative-storm debris from the curb.

- Preparation: Place damaged household items and construction debris separately from vegetative storm debris at the curbside and three feet away from obstructions.

- Vegetative-Debris: Place vegetative storm debris curbside in a pile or in a non-city-issued garbage container or yard waste paper bag. Vegetative storm debris includes shrubs, palm fronds, tree limbs, grass, leaves, twigs, and branches.

Residents and businesses can also use the McKay Bay Transfer Station for hurricane-related debris disposal. Residential Solid Waste account holders living within Tampa city limits may dispose of selected accepted items at no additional charge. For a list of accepted items and disposal requirements, residents may visit tampa.gov/solidwaste.

The McKay Bay Transfer Station will return to its normal operating hours starting Saturday, September 28, 2024:

- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

- Wednesday and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Customers are encouraged to download the Tampa Trash and Recycling app on Apple and Google Play Stores for real-time updates on service schedules. For any questions or concerns, customers may contact the City of Tampa Utilities Call Center at (813) 274-8811 or visit http://www.tampa.gov/solidwaste.

New Tampa residents should contact Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management at (813) 272-5680 for their storm debris collection schedule.
