Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw has expressed gratitude for the swift actions of officers that led to the arrest of two teenagers involved in a shooting at Westshore Plaza. The incident, which occurred on March 27, 2024, resulted in one individual being injured.

According to Chief Bercaw, "Juveniles who use a gun and commit a crime will face adult consequences and are mistaken if they believe they will not be held accountable."

The suspects, identified as 16-year-old Tarivus Clemons and 16-year-old Armontae Wilson, attempted to rob the victim of marijuana in the mall's parking garage. As the victim tried to drive away, Clemons and Wilson fired shots into the vehicle, injuring the passenger.

Following the incident, the victims sought help at a nearby residence, and the injured passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was unharmed.

Through investigative efforts, detectives were able to locate and arrest Clemons and Wilson at their respective residences. The firearms used in the shooting were also recovered by investigators.

Tarivus Clemons faces charges including Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm or Deadly Weapon, Carrying Concealed Firearm, and Minor in Possession of a Firearm. Armontae Wilson has been charged with similar offenses, including Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery, and Violation of Probation.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine how the teenagers obtained the firearms.

The Tampa Police Department urges anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
