U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, who has served Florida’s 14th district since 2007, expressed her concerns on social media regarding recent legislative actions by Congressional Republicans. On May 12, 2025, she took to Twitter to voice her opinions on matters she described as illegal and potentially harmful to the American public.

In a tweet posted at 01:16:32 UTC, Rep. Castor stated, “This is illegal and appears to be a bribe.” The post included a link for further context but did not elaborate on the specific details of the alleged bribery.

Later that day, at 12:10:15 UTC, Castor criticized a House Republican bill that she claims would “rip health coverage away from millions of Americans to fund a tax giveaway to billionaires.” She noted that the bill was released late on Mother’s Day in an effort to conceal its impact while expediting its passage through Congress.

At 13:40:03 UTC, Castor reiterated her opposition to cuts in Medicaid funding, asserting that “No one wins when you cut Medicaid – except billionaires.” She announced plans to meet with Tampa Bay area healthcare leaders and address these issues before attending an Energy and Commerce Committee markup session.

Representative Kathy Castor continues her advocacy for healthcare access as part of her long-standing congressional career. Born in Miami in 1966, she holds degrees from Emory University and Florida State University and resides in Tampa.
