The City of Tampa has announced that the pre-application period for the Homeowner Disaster Assistance Program will close on Sunday, March 30th at 5 p.m. EST. The program aims to assist income-eligible homeowners within the city by offering mortgage assistance, insurance deductible assistance, and cost of repair assistance.
Since opening on March 24th, the program has seen participation from nearly 2,000 households. “We want to encourage homeowners who have initiated the process but have not completed their pre-application, to do so over these next three days,” said Abbye Feeley, the City’s Administrator for Development and Economic Opportunity. She further emphasized that “incomplete pre-applications will result in your case being deemed ineligible, and we want as many homeowners as possible who are interested in this aid to be considered.”
Tampa has allocated $3.2 million in state funding for the program, targeting primary homesteaded and income-eligible residents, specifically those at 140% of the Area Median Income and below. The assistance categories include Insurance Deductible Assistance (up to $10,000), Mortgage Assistance (up to $5,000), and Cost of Repair Assistance (up to $20,000). The maximum reimbursement per household is capped at $20,000. Residents, once approved, may apply for one or more categories of assistance according to their needs.
