Tampa Police Department has reported a decrease in crime for the first half of 2025 compared to the previous year. The department attributes this progress to officer dedication and community collaboration.

The newly released statistics highlight significant reductions: violent crime decreased by 19%, overall crime dropped by 22%, and homicides fell by 63%.

Chief Lee Bercaw commented, “We are proud of this milestone, but it’s not one we reached alone. It’s because of the commitment of our officers and the active involvement of our community. It’s a testament to the importance of building and maintaining strong relationships with those we serve, as we continue to fulfill our mission of making Tampa safer, together.”

The department aims to empower the community through initiatives like expanding Police Athletic League programming and hosting Signal 87 Summits. Further information on these programs is available on their website.
