The Tampa Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that took place early on Sunday morning, June 22, 2025. According to the department, officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 3:20 am from a man who reported he had shot another individual, citing fear for his safety.
Upon arrival at W. Carmen St, just west of N. Oregon Ave, police found the caller, described as a black male in his early 30s, still armed. Nearby at W. Gray St and N. Oregon Ave, officers discovered an adult black male in his late 40s with gunshot wounds next to the caller’s vehicle. Officers performed life-saving measures until Tampa Fire Rescue arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The shooter remained at the scene, cooperated with law enforcement officials, and surrendered his firearm. The investigation is ongoing as detectives conduct interviews and gather evidence to assess whether any criminal charges are warranted. The case will also be reviewed by the State Attorney’s Office for further action.
