Vik Bhide, the City of Tampa’s Mobility Director, is set to leave his position on June 6, 2025, after nearly 12 years of public service. His official last day as a city employee will be July 26.

During his tenure, Bhide played a significant role in implementing the Mayor’s MOVES Plan. This plan focused on improving safety and connectivity by upgrading school crosswalks, expanding sidewalks and bike lanes, leading the West Riverwalk project currently in development, enhancing parking services, and spearheading over $350 million in stormwater improvements.

Bhide’s recent achievements include the opening of MacDill 48 Park in South Tampa—a project centered around a 10-acre stormwater pond designed for flood relief. He also doubled the city’s paving capacity, resulting in over 230 miles of newly paved roads. Additionally, he oversaw Quick Build projects that delivered transformative roadway improvements at reduced time and cost.

Reflecting on his time with the city, Bhide stated: “It has truly been an honor to help move the City’s vision forward. I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished—from big projects that will transform how people move around our city to the daily improvements that made life a little easier and safer for everyone who lives and works here.” He added: “I’ll always be cheering for our city and for the talented team I’ve had the privilege to work with.”

Mayor Jane Castor praised Bhide’s contributions: “Vik has been a tremendous asset to the City of Tampa. He has consistently delivered on major projects that residents enjoy every day. He’s also been a leader in ensuring Tampa is more resilient to flooding by focusing on community impact. I appreciate all that he has done for the City of Tampa.”

Bhide expressed his desire to take a career break to spend more time with family and travel: “I feel it’s the right time for me to take a break, recharge, and reflect before moving on to my next professional chapter.”

Transportation Services Director Brandon Campbell will serve as interim director while a search for a new Mobility Director is conducted.
