Applications are now open for the seventh annual Tampa Bay Buccaneers She is Football Scholarship, according to an announcement made by the team. The scholarship targets female high school seniors from across the United States who have participated in organized football, such as flag, tackle, or touch. Applicants must have maintained a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale throughout their high school academic career and plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university full-time.
Those interested in applying can do so online at www.buccaneers.com/community/. The deadline for submissions is April 24, 2026. Recipients of the scholarship will be named at a later date.
The program was established in 2020 following a $250,000 commitment from the Glazer family and aims to foster leadership among young women through sports. According to the Buccaneers, “The She is Football Scholarship is part of the Buccaneers’ commitment to developing 50,000 female leaders annually through the power of sport.” The organization was also noted as being the first NFL team to introduce this type of academic scholarship.
In addition to its scholarship initiative, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organize what they describe as the largest girls flag football tournament in the country: the Girls High School Flag Football Preseason Classic. This event brings together over 130 high school teams and more than 3,000 student athletes for several days of competition in a round robin format. The eighth annual Preseason Classic will take place from Monday, February 9 through Sunday, February 15.
The team also plans to host its annual She is Football Weekend on March 6 and March 7 with support from Jabil. Events during this weekend include the return of the She is Football Flag Invitational—a two-day bracket-style tournament featuring eight top Florida high schools—as well as a career summit led by Erin Andrews. Other activities include a community run/walk event and a market featuring local small businesses.
“The She is Football Scholarship is part of the Buccaneers’ commitment to developing 50,000 female leaders annually through the power of sport,” stated representatives from the organization.
