On October 22, 2024, at approximately 2:46 a.m., Tampa Police were called to the 400 block of S Howard Ave following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.

According to investigators, the incident involved a 2013 Chevrolet HD2500 truck driven by a 27-year-old white male. The driver was exiting a shopping plaza located at Howard Avenue and Horatio Street when he struck the pedestrian, identified as a 35-year-old white male.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the truck did not come to a complete stop before entering the roadway. At the time of the collision, the pedestrian was near the edge of the roadway.

The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver stayed at the scene following the accident.

The investigation is ongoing, and any applicable charges will be determined as it progresses.
