Late Wednesday night, Tampa Police responded to a stabbing incident at the Trails at Hunters Village Apartments on Hunters Village Rd. Upon arrival, officers found an adult female with multiple injuries and significant blood loss. She was transported by Tampa Fire Rescue to a nearby hospital where she is currently in stable condition.

The suspect, 31-year-old Thomas Sapp, known to the victim, was identified quickly by detectives who then began efforts to locate him.

Tampa Police Department members, in collaboration with the US Marshals Task Force, pinpointed a potential location for Sapp on Thursday morning.

At approximately 11:30 am on Thursday, Sapp was seen in a vehicle on County Line Rd over I275. Officers worked to halt traffic and minimize public interaction. Before officers could make contact, Sapp jumped from the overpass onto I275 and narrowly missed being hit by a semi-truck.

Sapp sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. He will be charged with attempted murder once he recovers and is listed in stable condition.

The investigation remains active with updates to follow as they become available.
