Beginning Wednesday, November 22, 2023, Tampa Police continued its increased patrol and officer presence throughout the Historic Ybor City District through early Sunday morning.

Dedicated to ensuring Ybor City remains a safe place for all, Tampa Police partnered with neighboring law enforcement agencies and had approximately 100 officers patrolling in their vehicles as well as foot, bike, and horseback.

Through their efforts, officers were able to make a number of arrests and a significant number of proactive traffic stops, that led to the recovery of firearms, narcotics, and more.

Stats following the increased patrol:

-DUI Arrests: 5

-Traffic Stops: 197

-Recovered Guns: 4

-Felony Arrests: 7

-Misdemeanor Arrests: 2

“Our work is not done in Ybor City,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “We saw how effective our increased patrols were earlier this month and how effective they were again this week. The proactive patrols are making a clear and positive impact on the immediate community here and we will continue this momentum to ensure Ybor City and the entire City of Tampa remain safe.”
