Tampa Bay Chamber issued the following announcement on Sept. 14.
The Tampa Bay Chamber is pleased to hear that the Governor announced funding for the Westshore Interchange and DT Interchange Operational improvements after their work advocating the past few years on the initiative. The Tampa Bay Chamber has long been supportive of transportation solutions needed throughout Tampa Bay. In April 2021, The Tampa Bay Chamber along with the Tampa Bay Partnership, Westshore Alliance, and St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce wrote a piece in the Tampa Bay Times that discussed the benefits of prioritizing the funds for the project and making headway towards improving our region’s most important transportation problem.
“We are grateful for all of the community partners in the area and the elected officials who have helped us to advocate for this project,” said Bob Rohrlack, Tampa Bay Chamber President and CEO. “The Westshore Interchange project is long overdue but the approval for the funds is a positive step in the right direction for our entire region.”
