The University of South Florida men’s basketball team achieved a significant win against UTSA, finishing 109–88 at the Yuengling Center on Wednesday night. This marks the sixth time this season that South Florida has scored over 100 points, setting a new record for the most 100-point games by any American Conference program in a single season.
Izaiyah Nelson led the Bulls with 25 points on 11-of-14 shooting and contributed five rebounds. Wes Enis added 16 points and made five three-pointers, marking his seventh game this season with at least five threes. Enis’s performance moved him to second nationally in three-pointers made during conference play.
Joseph Pinion recorded his first double-double of the season, posting 13 points, 10 assists, five rebounds, and four steals. Gavin Hightower had a breakout second half, scoring a career-high 21 points after entering the game with only 35 collegiate points.
South Florida trailed UTSA at halftime, but opened the second half with an 8–0 run to take control of the game. Key contributions from Hightower and defensive plays helped extend their lead to as much as 18 points.
By the end of the night, South Florida was averaging 89.5 points per game for the season—an improvement from last year’s average of 74.4—and ranked tenth nationally in scoring offense. The victory also placed them in a tie for second place in the American Conference standings.
Five players reached double figures: Enis, Pinion, Nelson, CJ Brown, and Hightower. The Bulls are now undefeated this season when five or more players score at least ten points each.
Looking ahead, South Florida will host Tulsa on Sunday, February 8th at noon for Salute to Service at the Yuengling Center. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU and radio coverage will be available as well.
