Several defensive players improved their draft outlook at the 2026 Panini Senior Bowl, highlighting a strong class of front-seven prospects. With the NFL Draft approaching in April, teams seeking linebackers and edge rushers have taken notice of standout performances in Mobile.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are among the teams that may target these positions early in the draft. The team faces uncertainty regarding veteran linebacker Lavonte David’s future and has expressed interest in increasing its pass rush. As a result, linebacker and edge rusher are expected to be high priorities for Tampa Bay during the selection process.

One player who drew attention was Pittsburgh linebacker Kyle Louis. Over his last two seasons with Pittsburgh, Louis tallied 201 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks. Known for his athleticism and coverage skills, he led the FBS in quarterback pressures and tackles for loss or no gain since 2024 according to PFF, while also earning a top-10 coverage grade. At 5-foot-11 and 224 pounds, some scouts question his run-stopping ability at the next level. However, his versatility as both a linebacker and box safety has moved him from a projected Day Three pick to a likely Day Two selection.

Another notable prospect is Bud Clark from TCU. Clark finished his college career with 214 tackles, 15 interceptions, and two touchdowns over six seasons while earning multiple Big 12 honors as well as serving as team captain three times. Standing at 6-foot-2 with an imposing frame, Clark is recognized for his physical play in both pass coverage and run support but occasionally leaves gaps by reacting too quickly out of zone coverage. His performance at the Senior Bowl demonstrated improved discipline: “Clark thrives on creating turnovers,” reads one evaluation from scouts present at the event.

Defensive end Nadame Tucker from Western Michigan also made an impression after transferring from Houston following limited playing time there. In his final collegiate season at Western Michigan, Tucker led all FBS players with 21 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks while forcing four fumbles despite not competing in a Power Four conference. At the Senior Bowl he recorded two sacks including a strip sack late in the game: “Tucker proved he can hang with nearly anyone.” His showing has put him into consideration as a potential fourth-round pick.

These performances suggest that this year’s draft could provide immediate contributors on defense—especially for teams like Tampa Bay looking to address key needs within their roster.
