The National Football League’s free agency process will begin with a two-day negotiating period starting at noon Eastern Time on March 9. During this 52-hour window, teams are allowed to contact and negotiate contracts with certified agents representing players who are set to become unrestricted free agents when their current contracts expire after the 2025 season.
This period is expected to see a surge in reports of players reaching agreements with new teams across the league. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have several roster needs including outside linebacker and inside linebacker, are anticipated to address these positions through both free agency and the upcoming draft.
Official signings can take place beginning Wednesday, March 11 at 4 p.m., which marks the start of the new league year and the official opening of free agency. Once this phase concludes and veteran players have signed with new teams, attention will shift to the NFL Draft scheduled for April 23 in Pittsburgh.
The Buccaneers’ list of upcoming unrestricted free agents includes quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, linebacker Lavonte David, cornerback Jamel Dean, wide receiver Mike Evans, guard Dan Feeney, defensive lineman Greg Gaines, safety J.T. Gray, defensive lineman Logan Hall, tackle Charlie Heck, linebacker Deion Jones, guard Michael Jordan, tight ends Ko Kieft and Cade Otton, outside linebacker Haason Reddick, wide receiver Sterling Shepard, cornerback Kindle Vildor, linebacker Anthony Walker and running back Rachaad White. Restricted free agents are safety Christian Izien, running back Sean Tucker and outside linebacker Markees Watts. Long snapper Evan Deckers is listed as an exclusive rights free agent.
As teams prepare for negotiations and potential roster changes during this period, many eyes will be on how clubs like the Buccaneers approach filling key positions ahead of next season.
