Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the largest association in the meeting and event industry, has chosen Tampa Convention Center as the venue for its 2030 World Education Congress (WEC). This selection highlights Tampa’s prominence as a destination for meetings and conventions.
David Ingram, Executive Director of Tampa Convention Center, expressed enthusiasm about showcasing the facility to global professionals. “Top meeting professionals from around the world will get a chance to experience first-hand all that our center has to offer,” he stated.
The WEC event will also receive support from Visit Tampa Bay’s Meeting Services Team. Santiago C. Corrada, President and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay, emphasized their customer-focused approach: “We’re delighted Tampa Bay is the 2030 home for MPI’s flagship conference,” he said.
Colleen Connor, Senior Director of Events at MPI, praised Tampa Bay for its energy and hospitality. “WEC is where our industry’s brightest minds gather to shape what’s next,” she noted.
Scheduled for June 2030, the congress expects to draw 2,500 attendees from the meetings industry. Derek Enos of MPI’s Tampa Bay Area Chapter commented on this opportunity: “We are extremely excited that Tampa Bay was selected as the host for MPI WEC 2030,” he said.
Tampa Convention Center is located in Downtown Tampa with expansive event spaces and state-of-the-art amenities. It has received numerous awards and celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2025.
