U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, who has served Florida’s 14th district since 2007, expressed her views on current political issues through a series of tweets. The congresswoman addressed topics ranging from healthcare protection to criticisms of Republican legislative priorities.
On May 8, 2025, Rep. Castor emphasized the need to protect healthcare from Congressional Republicans. She urged constituents to remain vigilant by sharing her message: “It’s time to stand up and stand firm to protect our health care from Congressional Republicans.”
Later that day, she criticized the Republican focus on renaming the Gulf of Mexico amidst ongoing recovery efforts from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. She noted the financial burdens exacerbated by tariffs imposed during former President Trump’s administration: “What are Republicans choosing to vote on this week? Renaming the Gulf of Mexico.”
On May 9, 2025, Rep. Castor met with Palm Garden residents concerned about potential cuts to Medicaid coverage. She questioned the rationale behind removing essential healthcare services for millions: “I met with Palm Garden residents today who are afraid of their life-saving Medicaid health coverage being ripped away.”
Kathy Castor was born in Miami in 1966 and currently resides in Tampa. A graduate of Emory University and Florida State University College of Law, she succeeded Jim Davis in Congress after serving in the Florida House of Representatives.
