U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, who represents Florida’s 14th district in Congress, recently highlighted local student engagement, teacher appreciation, and military academy nominations through a series of posts on her official Twitter account.
On May 6, Castor shared details about the Congressional Youth Cabinet’s recent activities: “Over the past 8 months, the bright students with the FL-14 Congressional Youth Cabinet have done research and prepared questions on their chosen topic—housing affordability in Tampa Bay. The following day, May 7, she posted a message marking Teacher Appreciation Week: “Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to our educators for your vital role in our children’s lives. You deserve higher pay and appreciation year-round. #TeacherAppreciationWeek https://t.co/wC6DmQaoGu”.
Later that same day, Castor congratulated local cadets: “Congratulations, Cadets! Each year, I’m honored to nominate students to attend our service academies—an honorable path that will lead to a bright future. https://t.co/eE2j24YcDu”.
Kathy Castor has represented Florida’s 14th congressional district since 2007 after succeeding Jim Davis. She previously served in the Florida House of Representatives and is known for her ongoing involvement with youth initiatives and education issues. Born in Miami in 1966 and currently residing in Tampa, Castor holds degrees from Emory University (BA) and Florida State University (JD).
