U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, who represents Florida’s 14th district in Congress, has recently voiced concerns on social media about economic challenges facing Floridians and the impact of national policy decisions. Castor posted a series of messages on her official Twitter account between April 1 and April 2, 2026.

On April 1, Castor expressed frustration with the current situation in Florida, stating: “I wish this was an April Fool’s joke! Floridians deserve so much better.”

The following day, she criticized the state of the economy under former President Trump and Congressional Republicans. On April 2, she wrote: “Higher prices. Fewer jobs. More chaos. That’s the Trump economy—while billions go to a war overseas, families here are left paying more for less. Congressional Republicans are raising costs. I am fighting to lower them.”

Later that same day, Castor invited constituents to share their experiences with rising costs at an upcoming event: “Are you feeling the squeeze of higher prices across the board? Whether it’s gas prices, electric bills, groceries, or health care — I want to hear your story. Join me for a People’s Hearing on High Prices on April 9th.”

Kathy Castor has served in Congress since 2007 after succeeding Jim Davis and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. She was born in Miami in 1966 and currently resides in Tampa. Castor earned her undergraduate degree from Emory University in 1988 and received her law degree from Florida State University in 1991.
