U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, serving Florida’s 14th District since 2007, recently addressed concerns through her social media platform regarding actions by Congressional Republicans and well-known entrepreneur Elon Musk. Her comments highlight legislative priorities and her stance on certain political maneuvers.

On April 10, 2025, Castor criticized Congressional Republicans in a post, suggesting that “Congressional Republicans want to make it harder for Americans to vote because they know their policies are widely unpopular.” She described the “SAVE Act” as a distraction tactic, aimed at diverting attention from substantial cuts to major welfare programs such as Social Security and Medicare.

Shortly after, she reinforced her position by stating “The SAVE Act is a classic Congressional Republican ploy to distract you from their massive cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.” Castor asserted that these strategies aimed to mislead the public regarding the impact on essential services.

Later the same day, Castor turned her focus to Elon Musk, sharing her intent to introduce the “Employee Limits ON Profiteering Act (ELON Profiteering Act).” She expressed concern that Musk “should not profit off his official position as he gains unlimited access to the inner workings of the U.S. government.” This legislation aims to limit profiteering by ensuring transparency and accountability for special government employees.

In her public life, Kathy Castor has served in Congress for nearly two decades, following her role in the Florida House of Representatives. She was born in Miami, Florida, and currently resides in Tampa. Castor is an Emory University and Florida State University graduate, holding a BA and a JD, respectively.
