U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, who represents Florida’s 14th district in Congress and has held the seat since 2007, recently shared updates on her legislative activity and public statements through a series of social media posts.
On January 23, 2026, Castor announced her support for recent congressional funding measures, stating, “I voted yes to pass 3 funding bills that will help address higher energy costs and build stronger and safer communities. A significant number of Tampa Bay area community priority projects I championed are funded to support housing, transit, schools and neighborhoods across the”. In a subsequent post on the same day, she added, “These investments will lower the cost of living, boost opportunities through skills training, create jobs, support Veterans, and address housing affordability. I’m grateful to my Democratic colleagues for standing strong to reject extreme cuts pushed by MAGA Republicans.”
On January 24, 2026, Castor commented on an incident involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), writing, “It’s sickening to see ICE harass and kill another person today. Trump must immediately end the siege, and allow local law enforcement to keep the city safe.”
Castor’s tenure in Congress began after replacing Jim Davis in 2007. Before serving in Congress, she was a member of the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Miami in 1966 and currently residing in Tampa, Castor earned her undergraduate degree from Emory University in 1988 and her JD from Florida State University in 1991.
