U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, who represents Florida’s 14th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on March 31 and April 1, 2026, addressing environmental policy and local student achievements.
On March 31, Castor criticized efforts to bypass the Endangered Species Act for drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. She wrote, “Going around the Endangered Species Act to drill in the Gulf is reckless, and it won’t do anything to ease the squeeze on your pocketbooks. Instead, it’ll allow Trump’s close friends (Big Oil and Gas) to profit off consumers even more at the expense of our beautiful Gulf.” Later that day, she congratulated local students participating in an art competition: “Thanks to all the talented students across Tampa Bay who participated in this year’s Congressional Art Competition Congratulations to Blake High School’s Cora Bowen, whose ‘A Million Paths to Take’ won this year’s competition and will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol building”.
Continuing her criticism of former President Donald Trump’s policies on April 1, Castor posted: “In other words, HELL NO! Trump already has made life so soul-crushingly expensive, we don’t need him to ruin our Gulf waters and beaches.”
Castor has represented Florida’s 14th district since 2007 after replacing Jim Davis. She previously served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Miami in 1966 and currently residing in Tampa, Castor holds a BA from Emory University (1988) and a JD from Florida State University (1991).
