U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, who has served Florida’s 14th District since 2007, recently shared her views on a range of issues through social media posts. Castor, born in Miami and now residing in Tampa, holds degrees from Emory University and Florida State University. Her recent statements focus on financial integrity within government spending and opposition to tax policies proposed by House Republicans.
On May 15, 2025, Castor addressed concerns about the management of Medicaid funds in Florida. She questioned Republican efforts to tackle governmental inefficiencies and urged for a federal investigation into what she describes as a “shady $10M diversion of Medicaid funds.” These funds were originally intended to assist families with healthcare costs. Castor noted that “House Republicans say they want to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in government? Here’s their opportunity.”
The following day, on May 16, 2025, Castor expressed criticism toward a tax proposal by House Republicans. She labeled it as a harmful initiative designed to benefit billionaire donors at the expense of average Americans. Her post emphasized her resistance against this fiscal policy: “We’re fighting back against House Republicans’ harmful cash grab to give their billionaire donors a massive tax break at the expense of hardworking Americans.”
Later that day, she elaborated on her stance regarding the economic implications of these proposed tax breaks for billionaires. According to Castor’s statement on social media, such measures would be fiscally irresponsible and significantly increase national debt levels. She highlighted potential negative impacts on future generations by stating that “House Republicans’ billionaire tax giveaway is irresponsible. It adds $Trillions to the national debt – weighing down s economy and future for our kids…”
