U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, who represents Florida’s 14th district in Congress, recently used her social media platform to call for immediate action from the Trump administration regarding delayed education funding and to highlight ongoing advocacy for breast cancer survivors.
On July 16, 2025, Castor posted: ” I’m demanding that the Trump Admin immediately end their illegal pause & release critical education funding approved by Congress. This delay is disrupting school budgets, jeopardizing local initiatives & hurting Tampa Bay students & families as the school year rapidly”. The statement reflects concerns about how federal delays are impacting educational institutions and communities in her district.
Later that evening, Castor referenced an upcoming Congressional Women’s Softball Game, tweeting: “The women of Congress are going to knock it out of the park and beat the press at this year’s @cwsoftballgame in honor of breast cancer survivors and fighters! Take it from my good friend, Megan Cavanagh! https://t.co/sDIezcbiGo” on July 16, 2025.
Continuing her focus on breast cancer awareness, she added on July 17: “On the field and in the halls of Congress, I’m fighting for breast cancer survivors and fighters, like my District Advisor Shahra Lambert! https://t.co/ZgYDCIM2xW”.
Kathy Castor has served as a member of Congress since 2007 after succeeding Jim Davis. She previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Miami in 1966 and currently residing in Tampa, Castor graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts degree before earning her Juris Doctor from Florida State University.
