U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, who has served Florida’s 14th district since 2007, recently took to social media to address several pressing issues. Representing her constituents in Tampa, Castor expressed concerns over family separation policies, constitutional adherence by the executive branch, and legislative action on healthcare.
On May 5, 2025, Castor voiced her disapproval of a recent decision by the White House regarding a Tampa mother separated from her nursing child. She stated: “My office has still not received an answer from the White House regarding their inhumane decision to rip a Tampa mother away from her nursing one-year-old.” She further described the situation as “illegal and immoral,” emphasizing that her office is exploring all possible measures to reunite the family.
Later that day, Castor commented on President Trump’s stance on constitutional matters. In her tweet posted at 16:27 UTC, she questioned his commitment to upholding the Constitution: “So President Trump does not know if he should uphold the Constitution?” She likened the current state of governance to being driven by someone without a license.
On May 6, 2025, Castor shifted focus to healthcare advocacy. She urged Congress to take decisive action against breast cancer by voting on her proposed legislation: “Our moms, our daughters and our grandmothers need Congress to take action against breast cancer.” Her Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act aims at improving access to care for women battling this disease.
Kathy Castor was born in Miami in 1966 and currently resides in Tampa. An alumna of Emory University and Florida State University College of Law, she succeeded Jim Davis in representing Florida’s 14th district.
