U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, who represents Florida’s 14th district in Congress, recently addressed a range of issues on her social media account, including public health initiatives and political commentary.
On April 6, 2026, Castor highlighted the importance of HPV vaccination rates among Florida teens. She wrote, “The HPV vaccine protects against 6 types of cancer (meaning it can literally save your life). We want to reach an 80% immunization rate, but unfortunately, only 59% of Florida teens are up to date with the HPV immunization right now. My bipartisan PREVENT HPV Cancers Act”.
Later that day, Castor celebrated the start of the baseball season for Tampa Bay’s Major League Baseball team by posting, “Happy opening day, Rays! Great to see fans back in the Trop.” on April 6.
On April 7, she offered criticism of a sitting president’s actions and leadership: “This morally repugnant threat comes from a feckless President who is betraying his own people and our national security. Plus, he continues to inflict higher costs and more pain during an affordability squeeze. He clearly is unfit to lead our great country.”
Kathy Castor has represented Florida’s 14th District in Congress since replacing Jim Davis in 2007. Prior to her time in Congress, she served in the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Miami in 1966 and currently residing in Tampa, Castor holds a BA from Emory University and a JD from Florida State University.
