U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, who represents Florida’s 14th district in Congress, addressed several issues in a series of tweets posted on March 26 and 27, 2026. Castor highlighted the persistence of the gender pay gap, criticized Congressional inaction on funding for federal agencies, and commented on legislative developments regarding TSA and ICE funding.
On March 26, Castor marked Equal Pay Day by stating: “Today is #EqualPayDay — a reminder that the gender pay gap still exists, and it’s widened since last year. Women deserve equal pay for equal work, not to earn 81 cents for every dollar earned by a man.”
Later that day, she commented on Congressional proceedings: “D.C. may look pretty right now, but what’s going on inside the walls of Capitol Hill isn’t. House Republicans are about to let Congress leave for 2 weeks with no progress made to pay our TSA agents or put guardrails on ICE.”
On March 27, Castor referenced recent Senate action and House response: “After weeks of Republican obstruction and a costly air travel nightmare, a bipartisan bill passed the Senate this morning to fund TSA, Coast Guard & FEMA, but House Republicans have rejected it — all so they can keep funding ICE abuses.”
Castor has served as the U.S. Representative for Florida’s 14th district since 2007 after replacing Jim Davis. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Florida House of Representatives. Born in Miami in 1966 and currently residing in Tampa at age 56, Castor holds degrees from Emory University (BA) and Florida State University (JD).
