U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, currently serving Florida’s 14th district, recently addressed several issues on social media concerning community resources and educational facilities in her constituency. Castor, who has been a member of Congress since 2007 after replacing Jim Davis, shared insights into ongoing efforts to support local families and the impact of policy decisions on young people in Florida.
On June 3, 2025, Castor highlighted the role of the Hillsborough County Public School Family Community Center as a vital resource for school parents. She stated that it serves as a “central hub” for those seeking community resources, employment opportunities within HCPS, or services to aid their children’s success. In another post on the same day, Castor expressed gratitude towards key individuals involved in expanding the center. She acknowledged the contributions of School Board Member Combs, Cristina Fernandez, and Jessica de la Prida in this endeavor. Castor also commended both educators and parents for their dedication and involvement. Her sentiments were captured here.
Later that day, Castor voiced concern over the closure of the Pinellas County Job Corp. She described this decision as “harsh and arbitrary,” noting its negative consequences on students’ futures by disrupting job training and creating housing insecurity for numerous young individuals across Florida. Castor was born in Miami in 1966 and resides in Tampa. She graduated from Emory University with a BA in 1988 and earned a JD from Florida State University in 1991.
