Congresswoman Laurel Lee of Florida’s 15th District has expressed her approval following the House of Representatives’ passage of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. The legislation is designed to provide state and local election officials with the necessary data and tools to verify the accuracy of voter rolls. Furthermore, the act mandates documentary proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration in federal elections.

Rep. Lee emphasized the importance of ensuring confidence in the election system by stating, “Ensuring Americans have confidence in our election system is a top priority of mine, and one of the most effective ways we can do that is by guaranteeing that only citizens are voting in federal elections because the vast majority of Americans believe that only U.S. citizens should vote in our elections. Congress must commit to supporting elections officials and voters by making voting accessible and secure for American voters.”

She further elaborated on the role of the SAVE Act in elections, saying, “The SAVE Act will support state and local elections officials by providing them with data and tools necessary to help them verify the accuracy of voter rolls to help protect our elections and ensure that only American citizens are casting ballots. As someone who has worked in elections at both the state and national levels, I am proud to see this bill pass the House, and I look forward to working with President Trump to safeguard the integrity of our elections.”

The passage of this bill marks a significant step in ensuring the integrity of federal elections, as claimed by its supporters.
