The City of Tampa has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the upcoming Gasparilla Pirate Fest, which will bring significant road closures and parking changes throughout the city. The annual event is expected to draw large crowds, prompting officials to encourage attendees to arrive early and consider alternative transportation options.

Event organizers recommend using public transit such as the free TECO Streetcar or HART shuttle, especially for those parking in Ybor City. Attendees using rented scooters should be aware that there are designated No-Ride Zones near the parade route. Rideshare users are also advised to consult the Rideshare Restriction Map for guidance.

Parking at Ft. Brooke Garage can be reserved in advance for $35.55, covering a full day during the festival. Additional information about neighborhood parking restrictions is available through an online interactive map provided by the city.

Officials emphasize safety due to increased pedestrian activity in the parade area and remind those consuming alcohol to review the Wet Zone Map for 2026. They urge: “Have fun, and if you see something, say something. Do not hesitate to text or call 911.”

The main events include the Gasparilla Invasion from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by the Parade of Pirates from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

A series of road closures will take place beginning January 30 at 10:00 p.m., affecting major thoroughfares such as Bayshore Boulevard, Kennedy Boulevard, Ashley Drive, and others through February 1 at 5:00 a.m. Specific closure times vary by location and can be reviewed on the city’s website (http://Tampa.gov/Gasparilla). A comprehensive list of all affected roads is also available (www.tampagov.net/RoadClosures).

The City of Tampa provides further details about event parking and transportation on its official website.
