The City of Tampa has announced the return of its eBike Voucher Program for 2026. The program, managed by the city’s Parking Division, will offer residents financial assistance toward the purchase of new electric bicycles.

The eBike Voucher Program operates through an application and lottery system. Eligible participants can receive up to $3,000 off a new eBike purchased from one of seven local bike shops. In its first two years, 2023 and 2024, the program awarded over 450 vouchers to city residents.

For 2026, the program is supported by $500,000 in funding and plans to distribute up to 248 vouchers. These include 81 standard vouchers worth $1,000 each, 82 low-income vouchers at $2,000 each, and 85 very low-income vouchers valued at $3,000 each. If any vouchers are unclaimed or forfeited after the initial round, a second drawing will be held in June for spring applicants.

Residents interested in applying can do so between February 13 at 8 AM and February 27 at 5 PM. Applications are accepted online at tampa.gov/ebike, during four scheduled eBike Rodeo events throughout February at various city parks, or in person at the Parking Division offices on North Franklin Street.

According to city officials: “This Is Not a Free Bike Giveaway.” Vouchers may be used toward Class 1 (pedal-assist only) or Class 2 (pedal and/or throttle-assisted) eBikes. Adaptive eBikes for individuals with specialized needs also qualify for voucher use.

Applicants must be City of Tampa residents aged 18 or older and are required to submit a signed purchase quote from a participating bike shop as part of their application. This quote outlines potential additional costs but does not obligate the applicant to buy an eBike unless selected for a voucher. All recipients must purchase a new helmet along with their bicycle.

Participating bike shops include City Bike Tampa; EMOTO Supply Co.; Oliver’s Cycle Sports; Outspokin Bicycles Tampa; Pedego Tampa; Tampa Bay eBikes; and Trek Bicycle Tampa.

To help residents learn more about electric bikes and complete applications in person, four “eBike Rodeo” events will take place on February 16 at Ragan Park; February 18 at Al Lopez Park; February 23 at Copeland Park; and February 25 at Himes Sports Complex—all from 5:30 PM to 7 PM.

Contact information for questions is available through the City’s website or by phone.
