On April 22, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Tampa Police officers were involved in a pursuit that led to the apprehension of four suspects following a reckless driving incident. The incident unfolded when officers observed a 2020 Nissan Rogue traveling westbound on E Hanna Ave approaching N 43rd St at a high rate of speed.

As the officers tried to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle stopped briefly, and the occupants inside fired shots towards the officers before fleeing again. The pursuit ensued, with officers eventually catching up to the suspects in the area of N 53rd St and Nancy St, where the vehicle crashed into bushes. Subsequently, five suspects fled the scene, with three of them seeking refuge in a residence on Sharon Dr.

With the assistance of the K-9 Unit, the officers were able to swiftly apprehend the suspects, identified as Tyce Hunter, Jaden Roberts, Jerdavius Stubbs, and Jamariq Travan. Tyce Hunter, Jaden Roberts, and Jerdavius Stubbs were charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling and resisting an officer without violence, while Jamariq Travan faced charges of fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer.

In response to the incident, Chief Lee Bercaw commended the officers for their dedication to keeping the city and its residents safe amidst the dangerous encounter. He stated, "What our officers encountered last night is another stark reminder of the dangers of working in law enforcement, and I’m fortunate that each of them was able to go home to their families."

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, with the possibility of additional charges being brought against the suspects.
